Designed for the lathe which as a spindle thread but no Morse taper aperture in the head stock, the parallel pen mandrel is held in the centre of the jaws fitted to the chuck, the end of the parallel pen mandrel is threaded to take the brass locking nut and it also as a recess at the end, which fits over the tip of the rotating centre to give support during the turning process or it can be inserted into the new pen mandrel support (code: PMS1 or 2)
Supplied with a number of spacers and a brass locking nut for locating the pen turning blanks and additional sized pen bushing sets from the array of different pens, pencils and other similar projects available can also be used with the parallel pen mandrel. With an overall length of approximately 21.5cm (8 ½”) giving ample room to turn either one or two pen turning blanks at the same time. The picture shows the parallel pen mandrel inserted into the centre of the jaws of the Patriot chuck, the 7mm brass tubing is from one of our 7mm twist top pen kits and this is to show that two pen blanks can be turned at the same time, this is ideal if you want the two sections of the pen to be turned down to the same diameter
