Most kitchenware shops are now offering salt and pepper mills utilising ceramic mechanisms. The reason for this is that they are durable, adjustable and much more efficient than similar products. The CrushGrind® mechanisms that we sell are available as a shaftless version (CrushGrind Wood) and a 195mm version with a shaft (CrushGrind Shaft). The shaft can be reduced in length for a shorter mill if required. CrushGrind® is like no other grinders; their unique ceramic mechanism allows you to grind almost anything, including salt, pepper, coffee, herbs and spices. The mechanisms are fully adjustable from fine to coarse with 14 settings in total and the ceramic parts are guaranteed for 25 years. No glues or screws are necessary for making the mills and a special recess tool (Robert Sorby – Crush Grind Tool – 895CGH) is available for shaping the inside of the blank for insertion of the mechanism
Tip: Use the Chestnut Products Food Safe finishing oil code FSF/50 to prolong and enhance the natural beauty of the timber being used to turn the salt and pepper mills

Many thanks David for donating all the pen making equipment, which I will deliver to the wood shed at Phoenix House run by Help 4 Heroes. This donation will enable the shed to help military veterans who have been injured both physically and mentally whilst serving their country. Many of these heroes have not interacted with others for many years. The wood shed tries to bring these guys and girls together and break through some of the barriers which stop this interaction. It will also enable many ot them to try turning for the first time. I know first hand what its like to find that one thing which helps turn lives around. Once again David from one veteran to another, Thank You, you may have just saved some lives.
Someone who found turning and it changed my life. - John Grant
